I am blind or partially sighted, how should I ensure that I get the benefits that I am entitled to?
In order to get some benefits you will need to be registered as blind or partially sighted. Information on registering as blind or partially sighted.
If you or someone you know has a sight problem, RNIB can help.
RNIB’s Helpline (telephone 0845 766 9999) offers an immediate, expert and confidential service. Many of the Helpline staff have sight problems themselves. They are trained to listen and to give reassurance and advice.
RNIB can:
- put you in touch with specialist advice services
- give you details of support groups and services in your area.
RNIB can also provide you with free information on:
- eye conditions
- making the most of your remaining vision - magnifiers, lighting
- registering as blind or partially sighted
- benefits and your rights
- living with sight loss
The Helpline is open Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm. Interpreters can be arranged for most languages. All calls are treated in confidence.
